Turquoise Burst Necklace
Crocheted Tendrils
March 2011

This necklace is 16 and 3/4" long. The average tendril length is 5/8".

This energetic, hand crocheted necklace, features bursting tendrils of round faceted Turquoise on .999 fine silver wire. Between Turquoise beads are bronze Swarovski pearls and faceted silver beads. This necklace is finished with a sterling silver lobster clasp.

Turquoise is an opaque, blue-to-green mineral that is a hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminum. It is rare and valuable in finer grades and has been prized as a gem and ornamental stone for thousands of years owing to its unique hue.

This stone has been known by many names, but the word "turquoise", which dates to the 17th century, was derived from the French word "turques", because it was first brought to Europe from Turkey from the mines in Persia.
